ISKCON Ujjain Rath-Yatra 2019

With unimaginable joy and enthusiasm, on the 4th July 2019 the devotees in Ujjain took Their  Lordships Shri Shri Jagannatha, Baladeva, Subhadra and Sudharshan on a trip around the city  to make sure all the citizens and visitors were blessed by Their most merciful glance. To grace this occasion His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami Maharaja was present along with a sea full of devotees whose eagerness to please the Lord was the very life of the entire procession.

The procession began with the worship of Shri Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra by His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami Maharaja, who was followed by a prominent religious leader of Ujjain Balayogi Umeshnath and Hon. Member of State Cabinet  Sajjan Singh Verma. The procession went through 7.5 Kms from Budhwariya to Gundica temple (special pandal constructed at ISKCON Premises) and was welcomed by various communities with immense love and honor. The procession began at  Budwaria Chowk and culminated at ISKCON Ujjain via the major religious and commercial hubs of the city. This is the day when regardless of their religious inclinations the Shaivties and Vaishnavas and those of different political and social differences engage in the direct worship of Krishna — the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

The devotees took their object of love, Shri Jagannath on a massive 7.5 km long procession of over 15,000 participants. Also, they worshiped, chanted, sang, danced, distributed prasadam and even cleaned up the road after, for His transcendental pleasure.  Noted was the participation of hundred of ISKCON Youth Forum volunteers who arrived to participate in the festival from as close as Indore to as far away as  Deland, FL, USA.

On this blessed occasion the the Shri Shri Radha Madan-mohan temple (ISKCON) was spectacularly decorated to welcome Lord Jagannatha Who was performing his divine pastime of travelling from Kurukshetra to Vrindavan. A special pandal was erected as the Gundicha temple where the Lord alongside His elder brother and sister would reside for nine whole days giving pleasure to Their eager devotees. The final pandal program for the day included installation of the Lord followed by sumptuous bhoga offerings by concerned devotees who spent hours to painstakingly satisfy the mystic hunger of Their Lordships.

Then a massive crowd of six thousand devotees honored the remnants of Shri Jagannatha. After this the procession reached its completion. Only to be followed by a nine day extended festival including nitya seva of bhoga and arati from 4:30 AM to 9:15 AM.

The festival was a huge success! Everyday there were five hours of seminars organized for the pleasure of the Lord and His devotees elaborating upon His pastimes which bring delight to the most decent personalities. The devotees used to participate in devotional activities such as worship and offerings all day and in the evening time the cultural program organized by devotees and various fine art institutes of Ujjain used to perform of the Lords’ pleasure. Every activity of the nine day festival was covered by the local media.

After the pomp, glory and celebration of  the nine day festival Lord Jagannatha Baladeva and Subdhra returned by granting Their audience to the struggling masses and enlivened devotees in the return Ratha Yatra procession of 4.5 kms. Throughout the nine day festivities and Their stay in the Gundicha for seven whole days 9,550 visitors took prasada. The return Ratha Yatra procession was over eighteen hundred devotees strong.

The festival completed with the devotees resuming their planning of an even better arrangement in the next year to please Their Lordships Shri Shri Jagannatha Baladeva Subhadra and Sudarshan  Who are the very their very heart and soul and source of all their joy.
